Sanity!

If you are a teacher of any sort...particularly a foundation phase teacher, your days are filled with random stories about animals, devastating friendship break ups, snot, burps, farts, kissing games, the 'special pencil' they were given by their friends aunties cousin, who got smacked, which mother or father swears and smokes and many other things.

Now don't get me wrong, I do LOVE my job and find their little stories both amusing and interesting. It's crazy to see life through a 5/6 year olds life. Everything is HUGE and WOW for them, as well as DRAMATIC.

Like I said, although I love it, I do need some adult time. Not that i'm much of an adult but I do try. To be a teacher I think you need to keep the crazy child in you alive somehow. So this is what the blog post is about.

I am going to be TRYING to keep up the blogging. Although I am sure if you took the time to read the other posts it would have the same statement in each one. :) Imar and I recently bought a new camera and I was very excited at the idea of not spending my time sticking and laminating but actually taking photos and doing something a bit more creative in my eyes

So the blog will be revamped and renamed. There will be some new posts hopefully on a weekly basis. There is no particular topic at the moment but hey...we'll see :)

So to finish off the random babbling I have a little qoute from one of my children...

"Would you stop asking me all these STUPID questions! Think!" (Please remember that they are only 5/6)

Here's looking forward to a new year of intentional creativity and a spark for life.

Wrapped in Piano strings

If you think the title says it all, you have no idea. What is this you might ask? Well it is the most beautifully written song ever composed in my opinion. It's the song you wished you wrote. The one that you can play over and over and over again.

A few months ago Imar brought 'Radical Face' album name: ghost, home. I have never been the same. It is beautifully written (already said that) with a stunning mixture of compositions from an artist with crazy poetic lyrics. Very different and VERY deep.

My favourite of all is "wrapped in piano strings". Below are the lyrics

I saw your father in the hall.
His ghost is living in our walls.
I heard him crying while you slept.
I heard him breaking things after you left.
I watched you crawl into my bed, with curses spilling from your head.
You said "We're just the walking dead."
So I pulled the trigger and we floated off.

Into the air

I used to worry about the time, but I lost my teeth along the line.
So I carved the apple from my eye and gave it to you before I went away.
Blood ran into the kitchen sink.
Your hands and arms were running pink.
I sat and watched you as your rings slipped off and rolled across the kitchen floor.
They cut your eyes wide open, and bore into your precious head.
My reach don't got hat far, dear. But please, oh please, don't let them in.

I sank into the sea wrapped in piano strings.
Few words could open me.
But you knew them all.

Now I just sleep beneath your floor,
and my ghost just tries to keep you warm.
I've seen the end; I've lost the war.
And one day you'll join me here just like the rest.

I hear the engines.
They're roaring in our mouths.
Those metal creatures are clawing tooth and nail to get out.
I see the airplaines. (that's how the artist spelt it)
They're pouring from our chest.
They fill the air.
And burn and bury you just like the rest.

7 THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THE ROYAL WEDDING :)

What's in a blog anyway????

Seriously. Today I felt inspired. Being sick and all made me a bit bored, so while I should have been sleeping I started looking at people's blogs and getting inspired to revive mine. A good friend of mine, Catherine, used to coin the phrase : WHY NOT?? Whenever we were thinking of going out or doing something. So here we go, why not.

My darling sister in law, Nadia recently posted a blog post about the royal wedding on her awesome blog, Gypsified, and it was about 5 things that she enjoyed the most. Well, here is a little review of what I enjoyed most with regards to the royal wedding :) They are in no particular order due to them loading funny.

The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom wore colours that complimented each other.

The fact that the ring didn't fit when he put it on her finger :)

The crazy hats and the long awaited kiss.

The amount of family and friends that came to share in our special day. The new family all together, all completely different.

The cute gestures that happened during the ceremony.

The little details in the the lace and the shoes that only closest family and friends knew about.

Having their brother and sister play the important role of maid- of-honour and best man.

Wow, what a wedding it was.

Colour, beautiful colour.

Before Imar and I were even engaged, we were throwing around ideas for a colour scheme. What a stressful thing in itself. Well, I had the idea of yellow, black and white. This seemed cool, but not enough. Then I thought of the over done red, brown/ black and white....beautiful, but not me. Turqoise and brown? Hmmm, nah.

After much thought, Imar came up with the brilliant idea of using the primary AND secondary colours!! LOVE IT! It just takes on the whole 'us' look. We don't want it to be the norm, we want it to be relaxed and natural, and using all 6 colours, to me, is exciting. Red, blue, yellow, orange, green and purple. Bring it on. Now, our wedding is not going to be a circus, let me reassure you, and if it was, well then I guess a clown would need to be hired.

Getting back on track, the photo above, by Christine Meinties, really sums up the colour and wedding for me. Just fun and colourful. We have more photos that reflect our colour scheme, but I will post that later.

Where do I start??

After much thought and inspiration I have decided to gather my thoughts and put it all on my blog. What is the point of having a blog if you don't use it! So, the next few months will be used for wedding ideas and inspiration. The only thing that you won't see on here, how ever, is my dress. Seeing as this is meant to be a secret from Imar :) Really struggling in that department. I just want to tell him!!

Where do I start? This is my biggest question since we got engaged. We faced it and we got engaged, now I think it is time I faced it and started organising this wedding. It is going to be very special. After 5 years, Imar and I feed off each other's ideas, and I like to think that we inspire eachother, so we have come up with, in my opinion, some really cool ideas. Hope you enjoy my posts as the countdown begins. 96 days and counting....

ENGAGED!

so AFTER almost 5 years we are finally engaged!

I can't even begin to tell who ever is reading this how excited and happy I am! Imar is an amazing man and always thinks of me first. He is the love of my life and my best friend. We make eachother happy and we love eachother so much.

He proposed in the most romantic way that I can think of for us, in true Imar style. Completely in his own time and in his own way, always casual :) Ooooooh, so excited!

This is just a short little post to say I am going to start blogging about this whole process and hopfully have more readers while i'm at it. This wedding is truely going to be a celebration of what love is all about!!

WATCH this space for the engagement story and the arrangement updates, aswell as life in general!
